Sally’s biography.
I am a Muruwari woman. My Country is in far north west of NSW and into south west QLD- it extends from Brewarrina to Cunnamulla. I have never lived on Country but have visited family there many times. I was born and raised in Murrumburrah, as was my father. I am the second eldest of eight - five of which have passed away.

The Stolen Generation has affected most Aboriginal families. Because of this our identity as Aboriginal was hidden.  After I was married and had a family, I decided to track down my extended Aboriginal family - we travelled to my Country and met so many relatives and swapped so many stories etc. I have never looked back!

Six years ago, I retired from the paid workforce after working at Calvary Public Hospital for twenty years - the last six years I set up the Aboriginal Liaison Office and during this time I had an amazing journey in this Community.

In 2014 I was appointed by this Archdiocese to be the ACT Councillor on NATSICC - The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council. In 2015 I was voted to be the Secretary for NATSICC. I still hold this position today and I love it!

I was one of the founding members of the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry for the Canberra/ Goulburn Archdiocese. In 2012 I became the Co-Ordinator of the ACM and I am still in this position today! We have had great Masses, outings, and events in almost all parts of this Archdiocese. And, we still have no home!!!

During COVID, I asked the Admin person of NATSICC if I could instigate Palliative Care Packages for NATSICC. He agreed. So I put together Palliative Care Packages for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout Australia and this is still going ahead today.
