An Evening of Dialogue: Pilgrims of Hope

PURPOSE

The purpose of the evening is to create a space for respectful dialogue on the National Marist theme 'Pilgrims of Hope, Look Beyond' and its implications for Catholic Education in the Canberra community. We have invited a keynote speaker who will provoke new thinking and rich discussion. The evening is open to all members of the Marist College Canberra community and invited guests and representatives from the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.

Keynote Speakers BILL BENNETT AND JENNIFER CLUFF

Bill Bennett and Jennifer Cluff are perhaps Australia's most enduring and respected producing partners. Married for forty-three years, they've been making films together for nearly all that time. From early award winning dramatised documentaries, (The Cattle King – winner, Sydney Film Festival, Best Documentary) to their groundbreaking Outback film noir, Kiss or Kill - (winner, Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Picture and Best Director), their body of work over four decades includes films that have been distributed by most of Hollywood's major studios, and won awards from some of the world's most prestigious film festivals. Bill Bennett, as a director, has been described by The Melbourne Age as one of the world's great film realists.

Genevieve Jacobs has been a journalist for 30 years, working in print, radio and digital media. She was a longtime ABC Canberra presenter and is now the Group Editor for Region Media. She chairs the Canberra international Music Festival and has an enduring interest in building community. In 2021, she was made a Member of the Order of Australia.
